To thrive in thisrole, you will need to demonstrate the following:• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.• Well-developed knowledge & practical skills in computer-based systems relating to financial & management reporting such as the SAP ERP system, Microsoft Office suite of programs & data analytics tools.• The ability to build & maintaining effective, co-operative relationships with key internal & external stakeholders including Regions, Divisions and Business units & external agencies.• Although not mandatory, possession of a degree or equivalent.Some of your responsibilities will include:• Undertake various tasks related to the production of financial reports and consolidated financial statements and address financial reporting issues to ensure departmental compliance with relevant legislation, government policies, Australian Accounting Standards and other pronouncements.• Monitor and undertake reviews of the effectiveness of various financial reporting internal controls. For example, general ledger reconciliations and other data integrity checks and initiate investigative and follow up action as required.• Review policies, practices and procedures to identify business improvement opportunities and internal control improvements, ensure appropriate re-engineering of work practices and exploitation of modern technology.• Maintain personal expertise in financial reporting prescribed legislation, accounting standards and government policies.• Provide expertise and advice to departmental officers in relation to the application of accounting policies impacting on financial reporting and the design and implementation of information systems with emphasis on financial accounting processes in support of the departmental financial management framework.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference: QLD/566796/24Closing Date: Wednesday, 5 June 2024Further information
