This is an exciting time to be a part of the SWSLHD palliative care Volunteer service We are looking for an exceptional networker to connect and expand our team of Volunteers. In this role you will focus on hospitals/Palliative care unit and community sites within Macarthur, Wollondilly and Wingecarribee LGAs. You will be based in the Macarthur area and attend Liverpool Hospital on a sessional basis to work with the District Palliative Care Team. You will collaborate with the existing Palliative Care Volunteer Manager who focuses on hospitals/Palliative care Unit and community sites in Bankstown, Fairfield and Liverpool LGAs. Your responsibilities include coordinating and undertaking all tasks related to recruiting and managing volunteers, ongoing community visiting programs and hospital/PCU programs, and supervising volunteers. Together with the existing Volunteer Manager you will provide cross‑cover during periods of leave. The Volunteer Manager(s) will develop and lead a volunteer service focused on supporting palliative care community and hospital services. They must understand the principles of palliative care and issues of grief and loss. Compassion, patience and empathy are essential qualities for interacting with patients, families and volunteers in a sensitive supportive manner. The service is supported by an Admin Officer and is connected to Volunteering Australia and Palliative Care NSW Volunteering networks. What You'll Be Doing The position(s) will collaborate to manage and develop the SWSLHD Palliative Care Volunteer Service across multiple sites: hospital, palliative care wards and community, and coordinate and undertake all tasks related to recruiting and managing volunteers. Where You'll Be Working Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is a major health service for south‑western Sydney, offering a wide range of state‑wide services including critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care, and brain injury rehabilitation. It is a key teaching facility for UNSW Sydney and Western Sydney University. The hospital has 23 operating theatres and a capacity for 877 beds. The ongoing $830 million redevelopment as part of the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct will transform the hospital into a global hub for medical innovation, expanding clinical services, research and teaching facilities, and introducing state‑of‑the‑art equipment and amenities. Describe your experience in recruiting, training, and managing volunteers in a health or welfare setting. How did you ensure volunteers were supported and retained? Discuss your experience in seeking funding opportunities, preparing grant applications, or managing budgets for a program or service. What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them? A degree in a relevant health‑related field, equivalent work experience in a multidisciplinary health or welfare setting, or a combination of study and work experience. Interest in and comprehensive understanding of Palliative Care principles with previous experience in planning and delivery of training programs and supervision. Applicants must possess an Australian C‑Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C‑class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C‑class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment.
