Department of Education Victoria – Hastings VIC Selection Criteria SC1 Demonstrated ability to inform and influence the work of others involved in the engagement, mental health and wellbeing of young people. Role Range 4 is distinguished by broader management responsibility, particularly in the areas of finance, human resource and other support functions. The role involves managing a range of functions to support the school’s wellbeing service, providing professional leadership, clinical oversight, and operational coordination of the school’s wellbeing team. Responsibilities Clinical Practice and Case Management Provide professional counselling, assessment, and short‑term interventions for students requiring individual wellbeing support. Lead the triage and allocation of wellbeing referrals, ensuring timely, appropriate, and equitable responses. Undertake and manage advanced interventions in complex cases that require cross‑agency or multidisciplinary collaboration. Develop, implement, and oversee Student Safety Plans and Behaviour Support Plans, ensuring alignment with legal and policy frameworks. Contribute wellbeing recommendations to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) where relevant to social‑emotional or behavioural goals. Maintain accurate, confidential records in accordance with DET and school policy, ensuring compliance with privacy, duty‑of‑care, and mandatory reporting obligations. Leadership and Coordination Provide leadership and direction to the Wellbeing Team, supporting professional practice, reflective supervision, and coordinated case work. Lead implementation of school‑wide wellbeing initiatives in line with the School Improvement Plan and DET frameworks (e.g. Respectful Relationships and Child Safe Standards). Offer advice to the Principal Class and SIT on wellbeing trends, data insights, and emerging student needs. Sit as a panel representative (Wellbeing) of the Inclusion Panel, presenting data and providing recommendations to support informed and collaborative decision‑making. Represent the school in Lookout/Out‑of‑Home‑Care networks and coordinate support plans and learning profiles for students in OOHC. Administration, Data, and Compliance Manage wellbeing documentation systems, ensuring referral processes, outcomes, and follow‑up actions are tracked and reviewed. Analyse wellbeing data to identify trends, inform prevention programmes, and advise leadership on resource allocation. Coordinate the school’s wellbeing communication to families, staff, and external stakeholders, maintaining consistent messaging and confidentiality. Support compliance with DET policy, including Child Safe Standards, Mandatory Reporting, and School Policies. Contribute to annual reporting, audits, and the evaluation of wellbeing programmes. Collaboration and Professional Practice Collaborate with internal and external professionals, including SSS, community mental‑health services, and youth agencies, to provide wrap‑around support. Strengthen partnerships with parents and carers through transparent communication and family engagement in wellbeing planning. Promote staff wellbeing and contribute to initiatives that enhance the collective health, culture, and morale of the school community. Maintain professional learning and registration relevant to the role and model ethical, reflective practice. Participate in and lead Health & Wellbeing Key Contact (HWKC) meetings, contributing data, advice, and wellbeing‑informed recommendations to support proactive, school‑wide health, wellbeing, and inclusion planning. Other Information The Wellbeing Coordinator reports to the Assistant Principal Wellbeing and Inclusion and provides professional leadership, clinical oversight, and operational coordination of the school’s wellbeing service. The role ensures an integrated, evidence‑based approach to prevention, early intervention and targeted support for students.
