Project Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our team at Olympic Dam. You will play a key role in delivering a range of infrastructure projects across facilities, utilities and support systems. This role is offered as a 5:2 residential or 8:6 FIFO role, depending on the successful candidate. In this position, you’ll assist the project team with planning and execution, ensuring all NPI projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget. Your strong project management skills, technical know-how and ability to solve problems will be essential to your success. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to coordinate project activities, including but not limited to project and contract administration, compile and manage MDR’s, ITR’s, ITP’s and other relevant project quality assurance elements, conduct feasibility assessments, manage schedules and support effective decision‑making throughout the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Assist in the development of work packs for project scope of works detailing and extracting relevant client specifications and referenced Australian Standards for all required project disciplines. Create the framework used to develop and monitor project metrics and manage the collection of project data. General project and contract administration, including but not limited to, Technical Queries (TQ’s), Requests for Information (RFI) processes, Notice of Delay (NOD) and Variation Notification. Utilise customer information share systems (e.g. Aconex / Procore) including transmittals and responses based on programmed submissions & drawing management. Establish the ITP’s by which all field tests are administered and develop various ways to monitor the quality of those tests, including the administration and completions. Assist in the preparation and completions of Manufacturers Data Reports (MDR’s). Project Schedule Management, including time and budget implications of ensuring that the design and early procurement elements of the project remain on time and within budget. Manage progression from concept drawings to construction issue details for all engineering disciplines. Estimate material costs and quantities, and equipment requirements to assist project budgeting. Engage with Consultants, Subcontractor, Suppliers to procure the best materials and services for each project. The assessment of designs, procedures and instructions to be followed by reviewing and analysing specifications, drawings and related data. Ensuring all requisitions are planned and submitted in advance for long lead time procurement items so that timely delivery of supplies to the site is achieved. Skills and Experience: Currently undertaking or have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in formal Engineering qualifications (Civil, Structural etc); Driver’s Licence; Relevant proven industry experience in a similar role; Exposure to, and understanding of, the Mining & Construction industry; Completion of OH&S Induction Training for Construction Industry Workers (White Card); Planning and organisational skills to deliver successful projects on time; Communication and interpersonal skills for developing and maintaining client and subcontractor relationships; Awareness of standards, statutory and regulatory requirements; Organisation skills and ability to work to deadlines; Strong desire and personal drive to learn and develop and take on more responsibility in line with experience gained.
