Assistant Retail Store Manager

We are a vibrant, family‑run independent group of premium liquor stores nestled in the heart of the city, renowned for our extensive selection of beers, wines, and spirits. We are on the lookout for an experienced Retail Team Member or Assistant Manager to expand their career as an Assistant Manager within our close‑knit team where collaboration, learning, and a passion for the industry thrive. Your new role: Oversee daily store operations and lead the store team, ensuring all staff are well‑trained, motivated, and delivering amazing customer service. Manage inventory levels, oversee stock ordering and control to ensure the store is well‑stocked with a diverse range of products, and handle logistics related to stock placement and storage. Be the face of the store by engaging with customers, providing expert advice on our products, and ensuring an excellent shopping experience. Drive store performance by meeting or exceeding sales targets and contributing to promotional and marketing initiatives. Ensure the store complies with all company policies and regulations, including health and safety standards to provide a safe environment for both staff and customers. Establish compliance with all legal and company regulations regarding alcohol sales. Participate in exciting industry‑related activities such as wine trips and supplier education programs. Ideally, you: Possess demonstrated experience as a Team Member or some experience as an Assistant Manager of a retail store. Exhibit outstanding leadership and people management skills. Demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, and honesty. Have a keen interest in beers, wines, and spirits, with a willingness to continuously learn and share knowledge about products. Thrive in delivering superior customer service and enjoy interacting with people. Love being on your feet and understand that in retail environments you can be on your feet for long periods of time. You are able to carry out moderate/heavy lifting (up to 17kg) and reach for stock from top shelves. Be willing to work during the evenings and some weekends.
