About the Role The Therapeutic Franchise Head (TFH) will serve as an operational expert in the relevant therapeutic area and is responsible for the development of strategies to support new business proposals and the holistic sale to delivery of contracted work in clinical trials within that area. Key Accountabilities Operational strategy Accountable for creation and optimization of innovative delivery strategies for multi-service, multi-region studies or programs that leverage EC's expertise and operational capabilities. Work with relevant experts to differentiate Emerald Clinical from competitors in the assigned area Actively support long‑term business growth through collaboration with functional area heads and other stakeholders Collaborate with external Centres of Excellence and partners to expand opportunities Create effective delivery strategies and solutions for all projects in the area, addressing specific customer needs and challenges Engage and coordinate Operations Area Lead team members to align with the global operational strategy in the specified therapeutic area Develop training materials and a library of resources to support project leads regionally and globally New business In partnership with business development and other functions, responsible for award of business to achieve identified new business targets in the relevant therapeutic area. Collaborate with Business Development to evaluate and manage new opportunities from receipt through pricing, proposal development, and award decision, including standalone programs, RFIs, capabilities, early engagement, and partnering discussions Support Business Development in the preparation for and conduct of customer‑facing meetings, training and content provision, and ensuring all content effectively conveys project strategy and critical win themes Develop and review project budgets (service fees and pass‑through costs) aligned with the requested project strategy and contribution margin targets Attend and present at customer meetings including bid defence and partnership meetings as required Coordinate with Business Development to complete follow‑up actions identified at bid defence and other customer meetings Act as Emerald Clinical project champion for awarded projects within the relevant therapeutic area. Work with Operations Project Delivery Leaders to enable the assigned project delivery team to understand and implement the project strategy sold, and to evaluate and recommend effective adjustments when trends or triggers indicate intervention is required. Guide and mentor assigned Project Leads through comprehensive handover of awarded project Define and communicate the project team profile and organizational structure that enables operational managers to assign team members to meet customer needs Continue to guide and mentor project leads throughout the project lifecycle, adjusting strategy when progress indicates intervention is required Serve as an escalation point and governance contact for awarded projects within the therapeutic area About You Tertiary qualifications in a related science or health care discipline Minimum of 10 years global clinical research experience, including proven track record in hands‑on operational project delivery and/or drug development Minimum of 5 years global business development experience, ideally in a hands‑on capacity, including RFP, BDMs, client leadership, and relationship management Expert experience in one or more operational areas and ability to understand and implement projects within assigned expertise Up‑to‑date knowledge and access to information supporting effectiveness as an Operational Strategy lead, including understanding of services, product offerings, status, and trends, innovations, and advances in methodology and business intelligence Demonstrated ability to understand customer needs, negotiate solutions, and understand impacts on overall offering Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including good command of English language (written and spoken) Strong leadership skills, ability to work with minimal supervision, and lead a virtual team in a matrix organization Strong business acumen, including confidence with financial considerations, excellent negotiation and influencing skills, and comfort working in both sales and operational environments Why Join Us?
