Position Summary We are seeking an experienced AHPRA Registered Nurse / Paramedic to fulfil the role of Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) joining the Health and Safety team at our Kanowna Belle Operations. This opportunity is offered as a Kalgoorlie residential position eight days on, six days off roster, working 12 hours per day. Reporting to the Health and Safety Superintendent, the OHN's primary role is to ensure the health of our workers through the delivery of health services, health promotion, proactive injury management, monitoring of occupational health functions, supporting occupational hygiene programs, and the delivery of expert advice and assistance on health matters. The Occupational Health Nurse is on call 24 hours to respond promptly to medical emergencies whilst on roster. Responsibilities Provide emergency and non-emergency assistance and health care to the site workers. Assist in managing the site's processes in relation to health emergency preparedness through the regular review and updating of emergency procedures and response systems. Provide relevant health care training and coaching as required by managers and including the members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT). Participate in emergency response training, when appropriate to understand the roles fulfilled during emergency response. Manage the emergency health facilities and assets onsite to ensure a timely, coordinated, and professional response. Assist the Health and Safety Department with projects as directed, by ensuring project compliance and quality, while identifying improvement opportunities. This will include but not be limited to occupational health and hygiene, health programs, and the administration of workers compensation claims. To thrive in this role, you'll need: To demonstrate the application of the STARR Core Values and how you apply sound reasoning, and problem solving skills within your scope of practice in the occupational health portfolio. Qualifications Bachelor of Science (Nursing) or equivalent, or Bachelor of Paramedical Science or accepted equivalent (such as 10+ years with a State Ambulance Service with appropriate "on road" prehospital and remote experience), current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), current qualification or willingness to complete the Advanced Life Support (ALS) course, current manual "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence. Experience Capacity to build key working relationships and effective communication skills, computer literacy - Microsoft Office, Micromine, health information databases and safety reporting systems e.g. INX, flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices, demonstrated experience in first responder or emergency health care. Desired Qualifications and Experience Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all occupational health tasks. Experience working in a similar environment (Mining industry) which includes the following: Hearing and Respiratory Fit Testing Workers Compensation and Injury Management. Managing emergency response situations in mining including liaising with off-site medical providers and the RFDS as required. Completion of a recognised: Workers' Compensation and Injury Management course Audiometry course Occupational Hygiene Technician Course Work Health and Safety Qualification Training & Assessing Qualification Passion for Growth A strong desire to be part of a team providing technical advice and support while contributing to Northern Star's dynamic work environment.
