CMDP is a joint venture between Costain and MWH Treatment. CMDP+ has secured a new AMP8 Capital Programme within the Strategic Delivery Partner Framework Agreement with Southern Water for water supply and wastewater treatment work in eastern Kent & Sussex. Between 2025‑2030 CMDP+ will deliver critical investment to water and wastewater infrastructure across the region, including upgrades to treatment works, pumping stations, and reservoirs. As a Procurement Apprentice at CMDP, you will gain first‑hand experience in a diverse and dynamic environment. Working at CMDP offers a unique opportunity to be part of projects that advance technological frontiers while ensuring the safety and sustainability of water supply and wastewater management. You will learn how to be responsible for delivering and further developing existing frameworks, evaluating and meaningfully engaging with subcontractors and suppliers in terms of environmental and social sustainability. Location: Falmer, Brighton. Responsibilities Forge strong relationships with the supply chain through supplier and other relevant stakeholder engagement. Support the Procurement Team by enhancing processes and championing lean thinking throughout the supply chain and sustainable procurement strategy. Work to improve supplier sustainability performance, and coordinate with the rest of the procurement team to ensure sustainability aspects are incorporated appropriately into tenders and contracts. Be involved with supplier sustainability forums and share best practice with the wider Procurement Team. Create a bank of information on sustainable supply‑chain activities and performance—case studies, reporting data, and lower‑carbon material information. Act as the Procurement Team's contact with the Supply Chain Sustainability School by utilizing their resources. Learn how to formulate and issue tender enquiries, respond to queries, compare tenders, negotiate terms, and place the final order. Ensure approved requisitions are received prior to any procurement activities and that material ordering via the E1 system is accurate and timely. Produce quotation comparisons and recommendations for internal review and audit purposes. Maintain excellent communication with internal clients and the supply chain to ensure the provision of an efficient, timely, and high‑quality procurement function. Ensure compliance with Costain and project Procurement procedures and processes. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Essential Organised individual who can work well to deadlines. Creative with a keen interest in the latest technology. Enjoys challenges and problem‑solving in day‑to‑day work. Communicates clearly, both written and verbally. Works well within a team, but also independently. Builds and maintains positive working relationships. Qualifications Essential Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade 4/C in Mathematics, English Language and/or Science/Engineering. Minimum of 96 UCAS points at A Level/T‑Level, all subjects considered. Other Level 3 qualifications may be considered. Vocational equivalents at Level 3 or higher will also be considered equivalent to UCAS points. Functional Skills Level 2 will also be considered equivalent to GCSE Grade 4/C. Additional Requirements Candidates must achieve appropriate security and medical clearances upon receiving a conditional offer. Applicants must be able to produce passport or right‑to‑work documentation if invited to interview. Some project sites are based in remote locations; applicants must be able to travel to the site.
