We are seeking compassionate individuals to join our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team as a Family / Carer Peer Support Worker. As a Family / Carer Peer Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in offering support, empathy, and practical assistance to families dealing with mental health issues. Your first‑hand experience will be a source of strength and comfort for families seeking guidance and connection. Work alongside our team of professionals to create a supportive and inclusive environment for families in need. Key Responsibilities Provide peer support and guidance to families facing mental health challenges. Facilitate family‑focused sessions and activities that promote understanding and resilience. Advocate for the needs and rights of families within the CAMHS setting. Collaborate with clinicians and therapists to ensure holistic support for both young individuals and their families. Position Overview Permanent, Full Time position (80 hours per fortnight) with a monthly ADO Warrnambool Campus Lived Experience Worker Level 2 Salary Range: $68,874 - $73,065 per annum pro rata, plus superannuation What you bring Recent and relevant experience as a family member or carer of someone who accessed Infant and Child Mental Health & Wellbeing services or supported a young person in Adult Mental Health services. Certificate 4 in Mental Health or Peer Support Work, or willingness to achieve this qualification during employment. Knowledge of the strengths‑based model of recovery or a willingness to undergo training. Demonstrated empathy for the impact of mental illness on family members and carers. Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team, express viewpoints, respect others' views, and work collaboratively with enthusiasm and compassion. Sensitivity to the needs of diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally or linguistically diverse individuals, LGBTIQ+ communities, and neurodiverse individuals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Autonomous in managing time and organizing tasks. Strong problem‑solving skills with a solutions‑focused approach.
