Overview The Royal Hobart Hospital invites applications for a Staff Specialist Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician. We are establishing a multidisciplinary ADHD assessment service to support children and adolescents across Tasmania, aiming to reduce wait times, enhance early intervention, and strengthen transition pathways. Primary Tasks Provide clinical services of the highest standard to paediatric and adolescent patients and their families referred for neurodevelopmental, behavioural, and learning problems. Actively pursue improved outcomes by participating in teaching, audit, evaluation, peer review, and quality improvement. Promote and participate in research through the Department of Paediatrics or the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. Role Responsibilities Provide outpatient clinical care of children and adolescents with suspected neurodevelopmental issues. Supervise registrars in developmental paediatrics. Develop sustainable practice partnerships for neurodevelopmental assessment and management of children in Southern Tasmania. Lead and drive the evolution of developmental services for Tasmanian children and adolescents. Participate in statewide planning of neurodevelopmental services. Champion a child‑safe culture upholding the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. Exercise delegations in accordance with relevant legislation and administrative authorities. Comply with policy and protocol requirements, including mandatory education, training, and assessment. Base salary ranges from $216,300 to $296,640 depending on level. Senior Specialist ranges apply with eligibility criteria. Allowances may include motor vehicle, continuing professional development, on‑call, and others per award. Other Benefits Salary package includes living expenses, meal entertainment, and additional benefits where eligible. Fitness passport: access to 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for a weekly fee. Carer Accredited Employer Status providing support to employees with caring responsibilities. Appointment Details Fixed‑term part‑time (0.2 FTE) day work with on‑call, 15.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 14 July 2028. Volunteer for subsequent or similar vacancies for a period of twelve months from publication. Essential Requirements Holds specialist registration, or Is a registered medical practitioner on the specialist pathway as an international medical graduate, or Has a recognised overseas specialist qualification with sufficient experience. Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration. Background Checks Conviction checks for crimes of violence, sex‑related offences, serious drug offences, crimes involving dishonesty, and identification checks. Disciplinary actions in previous employment. Desirable Requirements Experience in neurodevelopmental and/or community paediatrics.
