Specialist in Microbiology (Fractional) – Alfred Health Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education, providing services to the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne. It will join other regional health services on 1 January 2026 to form Bayside Health, a newly merged health service caring for over 1.2 million Victorians. We are seeking a Specialist in Microbiology to work 14 hours per week, based at The Alfred Hospital. The Microbiology unit provides routine diagnostic services including bacteriology, mycobacteriology, viral serology and molecular microbiology. Responsibilities Day‑to‑day operations of the Microbiology laboratory. Supervision of microbiology registrars. Collaboration with medical and scientific staff to meet quality and regulatory targets. Qualifications Legally qualified practitioner, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (or equivalent) with Microbiology specialisation. Demonstrable relevant knowledge and experience in Microbiology. Meeting Alfred Health requirements for credentialing and scope of practice in Microbiology.
