To do a great job, you’ll need: Two or more years of experience in mental health and behaviours of concern Good judgement and common sense, listening skills, a willingness to learn and a commitment to our values Experience in personal care (showering and dressing) assistance with domestic duties Experience supporting people with a physical disability including transfers/use of equipment and confidence in hoisting Experience with catheter care, peg feeding, and bowel care would be an advantage but not essential Experience in seizure management (midazolam trained) would be an advantage but not essential Have great patience and be willing to put in the time and energy to build rapport with your client Enthusiasm and passion for supporting people with disabilities to live great lives. Commitment to working with a care team approach, including guidance from professionals. For example, supporting our clients to complete a regular physiotherapy program Full drivers licence and be willing and comfortable with providing transport in your own vehicle sometimes (we reimburse you for costs) Willing to work varied shifts with varied hours including early mornings, evenings and weekends together with some short shifts, sleepovers and active night shifts. We also need you to be able to commit to ongoing shifts, based on your availability.
