Senior Consultant-Talent Acquisition at IT Alliance Australia Job Description: Software Engineers have experience overseeing software development projects, writing optimised code, and providing technical leadership to a team of software engineers. They are responsible for the quality and functionality of the software produced by their team. Key duties and responsibilities: Designing, building and supporting data integration solutions for the Australian Maritime Information System (AMIS) using the departmental approved integration software i.e. Providing systems analysis, technical recommendations, and inputs into business requirements. Providing input into capacity planning regarding webMethods and IBM App Connect resource utilization. Developing and supporting software to facilitate message processing for Maritime Surveillance and related Geospatial data management and reporting functions. Developing and maintaining productive working relationships, ensuring consultation and information sharing across the delivery teams. Ensuring appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices. Being part of the 24x7 support team. Providing out of hours support, including a requirement to be on call, on a rostered basis. This entails: Approximately 1 week in 6 on call, (low volume incidents) Specified Personnel to be available, and in the ‘required state of readiness’ to perform extra duty outside of standard business hours. The ‘required state of readiness’ includes the requirement for Specified Personnel to: Respond within 30 minutes and be able to start an investigation for out-of-hours incidents. Maintain compliance with the Department’s Professional Standards and Integrity Framework, which includes but is not limited to, ensuring services are not performed whilst impaired by any legal or illegal drugs and alcohol. Specified Personnel will be provided with a mobile telephone with on call. Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices. The Specified Personnel will be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to: Technical Specifications. System Design Specifications. Technical designs and matrix's. Architectural documents and approval. Work flows, events and sequence diagrams. Technical skills: Strong technical skills in coding and various integration technologies and relevant experience with IBM ODM; IBM webMethods, IBM App Connect, Microsoft SQL Server, Java skills, support experience for Command and Control Systems, experience in complex application development and maintaining high volume and high transaction applications interfaces. About the team: The Situational Awareness and Response (SAR) section within the Risk Data and Insight Systems branch is responsible for the development and sustainment activities of the National Joint Common Operating Picture (NJCOP), a Class 2 system that was developed through the collaborative efforts between Department of Home Affairs and National Emergency Management Australia. The section also has the Maritime Systems team, which provides ICT development, support and maintenance expertise across the Australian Maritime Identification System (AMIS) and Enterprise Geospatial Platform in support of the Australian Border Force Maritime Border Command (MBC). These systems support MBC staff in undertaking civil maritime security operations to keep our border safe from illegal activities in the Australian Maritime Domain. About the organisation: The specified personnel will be part of the branch that delivers and maintains critical ICT systems to business areas across Home Affairs, the Australian Border Force and the National Emergency Management Agency. Programming / Software Development Level 5 Takes technical responsibility across all stages and iterations of software development. Plans and drives software construction activities. Adopts and adapts appropriate software development methods, tools and techniques. Measures and monitors applications of project/team standards for software construction, including software security. Contributes to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for software development. Systems integration and build level 5 Plans and drives activities to develop organisational systems integration and build capabilities including automation and continuous integration. Identifies, evaluates and manages the adoption of tools, techniques and processes to create a robust integration framework. Provides authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of systems integration. Leads integration work in line with the agreed system and service design. Assesses risks and takes preventative action. Measures and monitors applications of standards. Contributes to the development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for systems integration. Release and deployment Level 5 Leads the assessment, analysis, planning and design of release packages, including assessment of risk. Liaises with business and technology teams on release scheduling and communication of progress. Conducts post-release reviews. Ensures that release processes and procedures are applied and that releases can be rolled back as needed. Identifies, evaluates and manages the adoption of appropriate release and deployment techniques, processes and automation tools. Applies tools, techniques and processes to administer, track, log, report on and correct configuration items, components and changes. Assists with audits to check the accuracy of the information and undertakes any necessary corrective action under direction. Experience in supporting mission critical 24/7 systems.
