THE ROLE Based in our Cairns office, this Project Manager role is responsible for the successful delivery of client-side projects across a range of sectors including education, commercial, health, civic and urban development. You will work closely with clients and internal teams, taking ownership of projects from early planning through to delivery and ensuring outcomes are delivered to a high standard. In this role, you will: Deliver client-side project management across all project phases, including design and construction Build strong client relationships and support the identification of future project opportunities Lead stakeholder engagement and manage complex project interfaces Develop, manage and administer project contracts, ensuring appropriate contract administration and project governance throughout delivery Define project scopes and delivery strategies in collaboration with clients Write high-quality project proposals and procurement documentation Procure consultants and contractors Manage project finances, budgets and forecasting Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure aligned delivery Manage project programs, milestones and reporting Support and mentor less-experienced team members This role plays an important part in the quality of our client delivery and the continued growth of HKS’ national project management capability. OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE You are a capable and confident Project Manager with experience delivering projects client-side, ready to take ownership of complex work with a high degree of autonomy. You bring a strong mix of commercial judgement, stakeholder confidence and technical understanding, allowing you to guide projects from early planning through to delivery. You will be well-suited to this role if you bring: Proven client-side project management experience, with the ability to act as a trusted point of contact for clients Solid contract management experience, including engaging, managing and administering consultant and contractor agreements A good understanding of design management, with experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and managing interfaces, approvals and risk Exposure to engineering, construction or the built environment, enabling effective collaboration with technical specialists Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, and confidence working across diverse project teams Experience managing project budgets, forecasting and reporting, with sound commercial awareness Capability in preparing project scopes, proposals and procurement documentation A proactive, solutions-focused approach and strong organisational skills The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment A genuine interest in mentoring others and contributing to a positive, values-aligned team culture Experience that will set you apart includes: Qualifications in project management, engineering, construction or a related discipline Experience working in a consultancy or professional services environment Familiarity with building services, construction phases and consultant coordination Exposure to business development through ongoing client relationships If you don’t meet every attribute listed, we still encourage you to apply.
