This casual Gardening & Maintenance role with Simply Helping South West in Horsham, VIC offers the perfect opportunity to join a dynamic team dedicated to maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our clients' gardens are well-cared for and visually stunning. Position Skills and Knowledge Capacity to work effectively both as a sole worker and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and adapt quickly to a changing environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including empathy and the ability to initiate and maintain strong contacts with families and Service Users and represent the organisation in a positive and professional manner. Decisions should reflect practice covered by both Simply Helping and our processes, procedures and policies. The person will demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of the issues faced by our older Australians and people living with a disability and its impact on individuals and possess a positive and contemporary attitude to those people. Competency and confidence in applying judgement to identify support needs of individuals and reporting same to the Manager/Supervisor. A commitment to achieving positive outcomes for Service Users, and for Simply Helping, utilising planned results to ensure and measure customer-focus and satisfaction. Functional Responsibilities Generally, the duties you will be required to perform will be advised to you by Simply Helping, or by the Service User, or their family and will be of a reasonable and necessary nature. You will be advised of the time allocated for Gardening and Maintenance activities by Simply Helping and strict adherence to this required. Simply Helping Gardening and Maintenance role is according to basic duties and standards as outlined below. However, ensuring we meet the needs of the Service User, you will also need to ask them if there is anything specific to be completed. What you'll be doing Mowing of lawns Whipper snipping Weeding Removing leaves (sweeping or leaf blower) Planting and re-potting Mulching Light rubbish removal (trips to the tip may be required depending on the service) Other ad hoc duties that are required in line with the employees’ skills. What we're looking for Relevant experience/appropriate qualifications in Gardening and/or Maintenance work, with access to their own tools and transportation. A valid Working with Children’s Check (WWCC - E) or Blue Card. A current NDIS Workers Screening Check with Simply Helping added as a notified organisation for the duration of employment. A valid National Police Check, or a current valid International Police Check and working visa. If unable to receive an International Police Check, completing a Statutory Declaration will suffice. Not subject to any banning orders, demonstrating a clean and compliant record. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work without direct supervision. Comfortable with a high level of accountability. Strong experience working in the community.
