About the Role At Tomago Aluminium, we offer a career of reward and growth, with a current vacancy for a Laboratory Technical Officer. The primary purpose of this role is to provide a timely and accurate analytical service to ensure ongoing quality and reliability of plant operations. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, covering diverse areas of work including spectrographic, raw materials and environment. This is primarily a daywork role but shift work will be required at times to meet business needs. This is a part‑time 3 days per week for a period of 12 months. Principal Accountabilities Sample collection from onsite and offsite (Kooragang Bulk Facilities) Registration of samples. Preparation of samples using various sub‑sampling and crushing equipment. Perform a variety of physical and chemical tests on the raw materials used in the aluminium making process. Operating x‑ray fluorescence, x‑ray diffraction and density instruments. Test, maintain and calibrate equipment. Selection Criteria Current drivers’ licence Diploma or degree in chemistry or equivalent Demonstrated report writing skills An understanding of working in a NATA accredited laboratory Demonstrated ability to work unsupervised Good verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated computer skills (including Excel) Demonstrated experience to report and present information Ability to work shift work when required.
