Access To Vet Care Nurse
vor 1 Monat
24th September, 2024 RSPCA NSW is Australia's best known and most respected animal welfare organisation, working tirelessly to prevent animal cruelty, caring for over 15,000 animals in New South Wales, Australia every year.
We are animal protectors, carers, and advocates, and bring solace to the abandoned, surrendered and injured.
We offer shelter, education, veterinary care and compassion, while helping animals in need find loving 'furever' homes.
The role has primary responsibility for the Access to Veterinary Care (AVC) and Pet Emergency Treatment (PET) programs.
These programs assist clients experiencing financial hardship to access appropriate veterinary care for their pets either at RSPCA NSW veterinary hospitals (AVC) or at private veterinary practices (PET).
The role will undertake eligibility assessment, case management and financial management for cases.
This role may be offered at a partial fraction split with a veterinary nursing role at one of RSPCA's veterinary clinics.
This role may require some work outside of normal business hours.
What's in it for you? Daily Engagement : Bid farewell to the traditional office environment and immerse yourself in a role that brings you face-to-face with a diverse range of animals, offering daily opportunities to interact with and care for them.
Impactful Contributions : Experience the profound sense of fulfillment that comes with nurturing animals in need, aiding their journey toward health, happiness, and the prospect of loving forever homes.
Ongoing Development : Enrich your knowledge and skills in animal husbandry, animal behaviour, and welfare through hands-on experience within our dynamic and supportive work milieu.
Collaborative Atmosphere : Become an integral part of a close-knit team comprising fellow animal welfare enthusiasts who share your commitment to delivering superlative care to our animal residents.
Furry Rewards: Embrace the countless joys of working closely with animals - from the heart-warming companionship they offer, to the delightful interactions that brighten up your day, and the profound knowledge that your efforts make a significant difference in enhancing their lives.
Career Advancement : A position with us is the first step on a potential long-term journey.
We offer progressive career opportunities for individuals aspiring to drive lasting positive change in the realm of animal welfare.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Collaborate with other RSPCA NSW AVC nurses to deliver PET and AVC services across the state.
Work with clients and clinic staff to gather relevant information and assess eligibility of each inquiry for financial assistance.
Build positive and effective relationships with clients from varying backgrounds to assist them in accessing veterinary services.
In conjunction with clinicians, develop a reasonable and affordable treatment plan which ensures the animal and client's wellbeing are considered.
Responsible for all client communications within working hours Monday-Friday, including ensuring comprehensive records are input on ALL relevant databases.
Work with external veterinary clinics and clients to support the programs and manage PET applications.
Manage and provide monthly financial reports on AVC fund costs.
Provide monthly output statistics, where required, on the activities performed within the program and the demand for service.
Work with senior management to evaluate and refine the program so it successfully meets its objectives for RSPCA NSW and clients.
Provide business documents when requested by senior management.
Support the fundraising team to generate financial support for the program predominately by providing content and advice.
Review and update necessary Standard Operating Procedures as required.
Educate/train staff on AVC program processes.
The duties outlined above are indicative only and in no way limit RSPCA NSW in directing other duties (specific tasks, projects or related activities) to the employee, provided such duties are within the employee's level of competence or training.
EXPERIENCE : At least 4 years' experience in veterinary nursing.
Prior customer service experience.
Demonstrated experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and knowledge of the challenges they face.
Demonstrated experience in working in a team environment in veterinary hospitals.
Extensive knowledge of common animal diseases/conditions and their treatment.
Demonstrated ability and confidence in utilising discretionary authority within role.
Demonstrated understanding of animal health and welfare concerns.
Developed effective strategies and show decisiveness in dealing with emotionally charged situations, difficult and controversial issues.
