About The Role The Team Leader – Family Violence Services leads a team of Specialist Family Violence Practitioners and Program Support Workers at confidential locations to deliver a trauma‑informed, high‑quality service to adults and children who have experienced or are experiencing family violence, including victim survivors with complex needs. This role sits within an integrated leadership team providing extensive knowledge and expertise to Good Shepherd’s family violence programs in Bayside Peninsula. This position oversees and provides support to victim survivors residing in crisis accommodation, refuge and transitional accommodation, and provides the team of specialist family violence support practitioners and program support workers with ongoing support, supervision and professional development through an intersectional trauma‑informed lens. This role is responsible for the operational oversight of a 24/7 refuge and an emergency accommodation including managing these facilities alongside a dedicated team and is required to be based at different sites within Bayside Peninsula. The Team Leader will have a strong focus on children and young people as victim survivors in their own right and will ensure that children and young people displaced due to family violence are supported through the development and implementation of recovery activities including early intervention. Knowledge and experience of people leadership, quality, innovation and service improvement are required to ensure the delivery of evidence‑informed services with measurable client outcomes. The Team Leader will also be managing the accommodation portfolio, exploring and developing new pathways and relationships within the housing and private rental sector. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and guidance to family violence practitioners and program support workers, recognising individual strengths and development needs. Offer mentoring, supervision, and performance improvement support to staff. Ensure services are high‑quality, evidence‑informed, and aligned with Good Shepherd values and funding agreements. Promote best practice strategies to mitigate risk and support healing and recovery for adult and child victim survivors. Ensure children and young people are supported as victim survivors in their own right. Oversee emergency accommodation and refuge operations, including staffing and infrastructure. Manage rosters to ensure adequate shift coverage. Assess referrals for accommodation support across emergency, refuge, and transitional housing. Oversee property management, liaise with tenancy partners, and ensure properties are maintained and filled. Develop and implement systems for accurate data collection and reporting. Build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including housing providers. Contribute to continuous improvement of the family violence program in line with MARAM and sector frameworks. About You Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related tertiary discipline meeting Rec209 Mandatory Qualification requirement or a Graduate Certificate in Family Violence (See below). Experience working in the family violence sector. Experience leading a dynamic team through a process of change management. Demonstrated knowledge of the impacts of family violence and the capacity to apply appropriate theoretical frameworks to practice. Demonstrated success working as part of an effective team, along with the ability to be self‑directed. Experience in providing supervision and/or mentoring of practitioners. Solid administrative and organisational skills, with accurate record keeping and strong attention to detail. Capacity to multi‑task and manage prioritisation of urgent tasks including in crisis situations. A current Victorian Driver’s License. Family Violence Minimum Mandatory Qualifications Under Recommendation 209 As per the minimum mandatory qualifications requirements via All candidates wishing to apply for this role must be able to demonstrate that they: are considered EXEMPT under the policy OR hold a Bachelor of Social Work or other equivalent qualification OR have minimum 5 years relevant professional experience, OR a related qualification as per the mandatory minimum qualification requirements OR hold significant cultural knowledge and experience or lived experience, and have faced barriers to educational pathways.
