As the Skills Coach of an exceptionally motivated team of professionals implementing Treatment Foster Care Australia (TFCA), a highly acclaimed, evidence-based intervention, you will make the difference in the lives of children and their families. Treatment Foster Care Australia for Children (TFCA) is an evidence-based treatment program that supports and treats young people and children with serious emotional and/or behavioural difficulties including aggression, poor school engagement, poor peer relationships, poor coping and social skills, low self‑regulation and are at risk of entering into residential care or it can be a way for children to transition from residential care into more appropriate home‑based care arrangements i.e. foster care, kinship care or home with parents. TFCA provides support and treatment for children aged 7 to 11 years of age. The TFCA programs provide a high level of support and intervention in a home‑like setting through the care of an accredited foster carer. The TFCA model includes several components such as training and support for the foster carer/s, family therapy for the young person’s parent/aftercare placement; skills training for the young person; education support and case management and consultation. An individualized treatment plan is developed for each young person in the program with goals that focus on improving the young person’s emotional and behavioural functioning; promoting positive educational outcomes; and building strong family relationships. A young person’s goals are met through close supervision, fair and consistent limits, predictable consequences, and supportive relationships with mentoring adults. The role Work with children and youth, ages 7-11 years, with behavioural challenges to provide a consistent, reinforcing environment in which pro‑social skills are learned and practiced. Work closely with a positive, solution‑oriented and supportive team. Work with highly trained professional foster parents. Solve problems, using your creativity and sense of humour. Ensure this behavioural model is delivered with fidelity. Transform the lives of children and families. What a successful candidate looks like Experience in Youth Work, Education or Sport would be highly regarded. Knowledge of behaviour management principles. Skill building and training experience, specifically with young people. Current driving licence (essential). Ability to engage young people in activities. Cert IV in Youth work or demonstrated understanding of and experience in the human service delivery system, with particular reference to the Child Protection and Out of Home Care System, standards and practice. Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in working with young people who have experienced trauma. What OzChild has to offer Flexible working hours to meet your availability. Permanent part‑time role (FTE 0.4, 2 days per week) SCHCADS level 4.1 $88,090.08 (pro‑rate). Salary packaging $15,900 plus meals and entertainment of $2,650. Ex Gratia days Easter & Christmas.
