Description Narromine, New South Wales Full-time Our Council Narromine Shire Council covers an area of 5,264 km² and has a population of approximately 6,444 in the rural townships of Narromine, Trangie and Tomingley and the surrounding rural areas. Narromine is located 40 km from the regional city of Dubbo. About The Position Narromine Shire Council is currently seeking enthusiastic, self‑motivated individuals for the following apprenticeship positions: Outdoors Apprentice Groundskeeper: gain valuable qualifications in sports field turf management including mowing, topdressing, fertilizing, irrigation, and pest control. Position Description – Apprentice Groundskeeper Apprentice Mechanic: gain valuable qualification to perform workshop and field servicing tasks, including scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance. Position Description – Apprentice Mechanic Employment will start in 2026 Please refer to the attached position descriptions for the entire scope of essential and desirable criteria which all applicants must meet. The positions are funded under the NSW Government’s Fresh Start for Local Government Apprentices, Trainees and Cadets Program. The successful applicants will be required to undergo a structured traineeship programme, gaining valuable qualifications in their respective fields. To be successful in this position you will need to have: Class ‘C’ driver’s licence – including CP1/2 General Construction Induction (CIC – White Card) NSW Willingness and capacity to undertake studies to Cert 111 or Cert IV level Proficient written and verbal communication skills Ability to work in a team environment It Would Be Desirable For You To Have: Completed the HSC The Details Relating To This Position Are The position is graded Operational Band 1/T4 to T6 as per Local Government State Award The salary range is $827.40 to $1,023 per week plus superannuation. The salary step is determined by an annual competency assessment. Outdoor positions – 38‑hour working week applies. NSC has a RDO system. Every second Monday is a rostered day off.
