Role type Full time and Fixed term for 24 months Faculty Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences Department / School Department of Anatomy and Physiology Salary UOM5 - $86,943 - $99,864 p.a. plus 17% super About the role As a valued member of our research team, you will maintain our zebrafish colony, contributing to innovative studies on neurocircuitry and sensory processing. You will have the chance to engage in interdisciplinary research, utilising cutting‑edge techniques like calcium imaging and optogenetic manipulations. Responsibilities Managing our Zebrafish Colony: Handle and breed zebrafish, conduct genotyping, and maintain detailed records for research purposes. Providing Laboratory Support: Assist with molecular biology techniques, maintain laboratory organisation, and support research scientists and students. Ensuring Compliance and Safety: Uphold university policies, contribute to lab meetings, and adhere to OH&S responsibilities. Qualifications You may be a great fit if: BSc (Hons) in Biology or Neuroscience, excellent communication skills, and experience with bench techniques and experimental design. Desirable Experience working with zebrafish. Experience in research data collection, analysis, and reporting. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in DNA sequencing, PCR, and basic microscopy. Familiarity with zebrafish and molecular biology techniques like subcloning and CRISPR gene editing.
