Survival Systems International Australia – Pakenham VIC Survival Systems International Australia is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. As a Mechanical Engineering Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting the design, development and maintenance of our state-of-the-art industrial and rescue equipment. This full-time position is based in our facility in Pakenham, Victoria, Australia. What you'll be doing In addition to work at Survival Systems workshop to also attend Survival Systems customers’ worksites, onshore as well as onboard vessels and offshore facilities as when and directed by Survival Systems. To inspect, service and repair various types of LSA equipment as directed by Survival Systems. Conducting onsite testing of LSA equipment in accordance with MSC 402(96) and other regulatory testing requirements. Ensure that equipment is fit for use and within specifications, regulations requirements upon job completion. To also inspect, service and repair other associated safety equipment such as breathing apparatus, fire equipment, lifejackets onboard vessels, platforms and rigs. Assisting with organizing, as well as conducting inspection, testing and maintenance of mechanical winches, davits, engines and other LSA equipment in the workshop and onboard vessels, rigs and platforms. Assembling and installing new or repaired mechanical assemblies, components, such as hydraulic power systems, gearboxes to winches, davits, lifeboats and other associated LSA and safety equipment. Upon completion of inspections and maintenance prepare repair plans for follow up mechanical work under the direction of Survival Systems International management team and lead service engineers. Selecting tools and specialist equipment for conducting inspection maintenance and repair to LSA and safety equipment. Upon completion of each job assisting with the estimating of materials, parts and associated work assistance required to conduct follow-up repair work. Assisting the service team to understand the design, inspection and maintenance completed on mechanical winches, davits, lifeboats and other associated LSA / safety equipment. What we're looking for Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline. 3+ years of hands-on experience as in a similar role within the Marine Lifeboat industry. Knowledge, understanding and practical experience of IMO / SOLAS requirements of life saving appliances. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an eye for detail. 100% safety focused.
