In partnership with headspace, Australia's leading youth mental health service, we're looking for a compassionate and skilled Access and Intake Worker to be the welcoming voice and guiding hand for young people seeking support. What you'll do: As an Access and Intake Worker you will engage, screen, assess, refer, provide brief interventions and coordinate care for young people aged 12-25 years that contact or are referred to headspace Gympie. Greet and engage young people, families, and friends in a warm, youth-friendly way Conduct biopsychosocial and risk assessments and safety planning Provide brief interventions and support for mild to moderate mental health concerns Coordinate referrals and connect young people to the right services Support intake systems calls, emails, walk-ins and contribute to case reviews and outreach Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care What you'll bring: You're someone who listens deeply, acts with empathy, and brings clinical expertise to every interaction. Degree qualifications in Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing. As well as Mental Health Counsellors or Psychotherapists whose skills, training and experience are equivalent to the requirements outlined within the Australian Counselling Association Scope of Practice Guidelines at a minimum Level 3 or above or service providers with specialist postgraduate qualifications in relevant mental health clinical fields (e.g.; Masters of Family Therapy, Masters of Addictive Behaviours). Experience working with young people and/or families Strong assessment and intervention skills Understanding of youth mental health and substance use impacts Experience with therapeutic group programs Familiarity with local youth services and referral pathways Comfort with electronic medical records Other Requirements: Successful applicants will also need to hold a ‘C’ class Open drivers' licence and a State Working with Children Check.
