Mechanical Engineer (Combat Systems Sail/Sonar) - U.S Deployment Have you always wanted to work overseas? Are you looking to expand your career with the opportunity to receive world-class training? To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to further your career and professional capabilities through collaborations and upskilling with world-leading industry partners. Placements are available in April 2026 and will be approximately 114 weeks in duration. Responsibilities Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with submarine mast, antenna, and towed array handling systems during installation and testing. Develop and review test plans, procedures, and schedules for these systems and associated equipment. Provide on-site field support in shipyards, onboard vessels, at sea, or other locations as required. Ensure compliance with security regulations and safety protocols in naval shipyard environments. Eligibility Criteria Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) – minimum qualification requirement 1-5 years' experience (desirable) Experience within the defence industry or on submarines (desirable) The ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 defence clearance During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures. At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines at HMAS Stirling. Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
