Summary Help maintain and care for the school's grounds, including gardens, lawns and sporting ovals, creating a vibrant environment for all. Location: St Patrick's Primary School, Gympie Start date: Commencing January 2026 Work hours: 38.00 hours per week Salary: Services Staff Level 1 – $31.17/Hour + super Status: Term Time | Fixed‑Term (Contract until August 2026) Ad close date: 27 November 2025 Contact: Petrea Hass – About the Opportunity Removal of rubbish and debris from garden and grounds areas including emptying bins and disposing of waste material to maintain a clean, tidy, and litter‑free school building and grounds environment Routinely maintaining and/or repairing reticulation and irrigation systems, under supervision Safely operate and maintain small machinery and plant, as required, considering the risk to self and others Assisting in the maintenance of playing surfaces, including setting up of greens, top‑dressing, fertilising under supervision, seeding, turfing, coring, and sprigging Assisting in the preparation of ovals for sporting events and carnivals, including moving equipment to and from venues Perform basic maintenance duties throughout the school Clean up of spills and accidents during the school day Ability to assist in ordering and purchasing materials required for maintenance About You A safety mindset: aware of risks, following safety protocols, using PPE, and ensuring the safety of yourself and others while maintaining the grounds and equipment Skilled in safely operating and maintaining small machinery including but not limited to lawn mower, trimmer, hedger and pressure cleaner Experience assisting in the upkeep of playing surfaces, including fertilising, seeding, and turfing under supervision Capability to assist in preparing ovals for sporting events and carnivals Eligibility and Safeguarding Requirements Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement Benefits Opportunities for career advancement and professional development Competitive remuneration and flexible work arrangements (position dependent) Access to targeted AI tools and training with a focus on innovation and strong ethical standards Salary packaging and salary‑sacrificing options Active staff social club and wellness programs Personal support for employees and families through the Employee Assistance Program Equity and inclusion are at the core of our Catholic values and we recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce.
