Camp Operations and Facilities Assistant Urban Camp is seeking a fun‑loving, practical, reliable, and team‑focused Camp Operations and Facilities Assistant. You will support day‑to‑day operations and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all guests. This is a casual role, anticipated to be 4–5 hours per day, 3 days per week. Key Focus The Camp Assistant role is to contribute to the smooth, positive day‑to‑day operations. Responsibilities Assist with luggage on arrival and departure for school and group bookings. Make and strip teachers' (25) beds before and after each camp group. Reset accommodation and activity spaces between groups. Support activity set‑up and pack‑down for on‑site programs and events. Provide friendly, helpful support to guests as needed. Assist with light maintenance tasks such as minor cleaning and upkeep of facilities. Monitor supplies and report any maintenance or safety issues to the Operations Manager. Help maintain camp gardens and outdoor areas, including watering, weeding, and general tidy‑ups. Work collaboratively with the Operations Manager and other staff to ensure camp operations run smoothly. Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe team culture. Take on additional tasks while staff are absent or on leave. Be flexible around hours to meet the operational needs of the schools/groups visiting. Other duties as directed. Provide friendly and welcoming customer service to guests upon arrival and check‑in with them regularly throughout their stay. Assist in handling customer enquiries, questions, and complaints. Understand and adhere to Urban Camp's occupational health and safety guidelines. Communicate and enforce camp rules and safety protocols to promote a secure and supportive environment for all guests. Be responsive to any medical or emotional needs of students, coordinating with appropriate staff members as necessary. Hours This is a casual role, typically 4–5 hours per day across three days each week. While the schedule is generally: Monday: 4–5 hours Wednesday: 4–5 hours Friday: 4–5 hours The exact hours may vary depending on the needs of the group onsite. Additional shifts may also be available during busy periods, giving you the opportunity to work more if you wish. This is an ongoing casual opportunity rather than a short‑term holiday role. Qualifications Current driver's licence (desirable but not essential). Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain at UC expense). Current Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain upon hire). Police Check (or willingness to obtain upon hire). About You Previous experience in a similar hands‑on or hospitality role (e.g., maintenance, housekeeping, groundskeeping, or camp operations). Basic knowledge of tools, gardening and light maintenance. Strong written and spoken English communication skills. A high level of computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new programs as required. Excellent time‑management and multi‑tasking skills. The ability to engage with and communicate with people of all ages and levels. Friendly interpersonal skills and high energy levels. The proven capacity to manage several projects simultaneously. An eye for detail and proven problem‑solving skills. What Urban Camp offers In addition to the opportunity to work as part of a dedicated team enriching the lives of children, this role offers 13.5% Superannuation, and free lunch and refreshments are provided Monday and Wednesday. To assist with the physical demands of this role (lifting children's suitcases in and out of the van, table set‑up in dining hall, etc.), you will receive a $1,000 per year health and wellness bonus (to be used for massage and/or fitness activities to help you stay in shape). High level of physical fitness is essential for regular lifting and moving tasks throughout the role. Applicants must be able to lift 10–15kg regularly as part of daily duties.
