Case Manager – Nugel VACCA – Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency Location: Dandenong, Victoria, Australia Employment type: Permanent, Full‑Time Salary: $88,892 – $95,645 AUD + super and salary packaging options About the Organisation The Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency (VACCA) is an Aboriginal community‑controlled organisation that supports and advocates for the Aboriginal community. It is the largest organisation of its kind in Australia and is committed to providing support, service and advocacy for children and other vulnerable members of the community. About the Role Reporting to the Team Leader, the Nugel Case Manager will work directly with Aboriginal children and families, and government and sector partners, to achieve better outcomes for children, striving to keep families safe at home or ensuring a safe transition home. The role is responsible for implementing Section 18 of the Child Youth and Families Act (CYFA) which transfers decision‑making responsibilities from the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFHH) to VACCA. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments, including risk assessments, and develop, implement and review care plans for children and young people. Engage in timely case note, incident report and court report preparation, ensuring accurate documentation of the child’s voice and the perspectives of all audiences. Work collaboratively with external stakeholders (e.g., police, courts, service providers) to secure positive outcomes. Utilize culturally safe therapeutic approaches consistent with legislation, policy and practice related to Aboriginal children, families and communities. Maintain effective yarning, deep listening, and negotiation skills with Aboriginal children and families. Adapt to a fast‑paced, complex team environment, manage competing demands with resilience, and support team wellbeing. Qualifications & Requirements Recognised Social Work degree or diploma of Community Services. Valid Police Check, Working with Children’s Check and Victorian Driver Licence (or willingness to obtain). Strong understanding of child development, attachment and trauma, with particular knowledge of Aboriginal children. Experience in trauma‑informed, culturally safe casework and use of therapeutic techniques with children who have experienced trauma. Excellent communication, negotiation and networking skills, culturally appropriate and sensitive. Strong report writing skills and documentation experience. Current COVID‑19 vaccination (strongly recommended). What We Offer 5 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading.
