Lithgow - Wagon Maintainer / Semi Skilled Southern Shorthaul Railroad is a privately owned rail operator, providing services throughout New South Wales and Victoria. Our focus on customer service has helped forge our reputation for safety, quality and reliability. Due to winning a new major long-term contract we are now expanding our maintenance team to include additional Wagon Maintainers / Semi Skilled to work out of our Lithgow workshops. Responsibilities Assist with maintenance tasks in accordance with SSR Policies and Procedures. Maintain and provision of locomotives and wagons for train operations by following SSR procedures. Perform fault repairs and failure rectifications. Undertake maintenance tasks to validate the integrity of rolling stock and ensure all operational systems are safe and effective. Conduct yourself in a professional manner with a strong customer and safety focus. Ensure a commitment to established processes and management of risks with the objective of zero injuries. If you have not previously worked your trade within the rail industry, full training will be provided to adapt your current skills to the rail industry. Southern Shorthaul Railroad maintains a drug and alcohol free work environment, with regular testing of employees and a zero tolerance for positive test results. In pursuit of customer focused service delivery outcomes, this position may require rostering that may vary upon maintenance requirements, including some weekends and shift work. Key Requirements Prior trade experience. Commitment to a safety culture and a can-do customer focus. Professionalism, integrity, reliability and a positive attitude. Hold a current drivers licence. Hold a current National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one. Ability to pass relevant Rail Medical if required.
