PACER Clinician – NSW Health An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced mental health clinician to join the Lower North Shore Community Mental Health Service (LNSCMHS) as a Mental Health Clinician for the NSW Police, Ambulance and Clinical Early Response (PACER) team. This position involves participation in a 7‑day‑a‑week rotating roster, including extended hours. Where You'll Be Working The PACER Clinician is integrated within the Lower North Shore Community Mental Health Service and located at Chatswood Police Station. What You'll Be Doing The LNS PACER Clinician will provide highly mobile, recovery‑oriented clinical advice, consultancy and support to NSW Police, managing mental health related cases in the community. The role will involve: Timely and effective mental health triage, risk assessment and intervention alongside emergency services. Facilitate appropriate diversion from emergency departments and inpatient care when possible. Support individuals in crisis with a recovery‑oriented, trauma‑informed approach. Act as a response requested by an operational police unit and provide mental health intervention and undertake triage, primary client assessment and management of complex mental health emergencies and crises at an advanced level. Qualifications (Candidates Will Need To Meet) Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience per clinical discipline. Clinical Nurse Consultant, Senior Psychologist or Occupational Therapist with full AHPRA registration, or Social Worker eligible for membership of AASW with demonstrated expertise in mental health. Social Workers and Occupational Therapists must have minimum Level 2 experience. Clinical Nurse Consultant requires minimum five years full‑time post‑graduate experience with 3 years equivalent in mental health, plus an approved post‑graduate qualification (minimum Grad Diploma/Certificate level) or evidence of working towards a Masters level qualification. Senior Psychologist must have a four‑year degree in psychology, registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and a minimum of one year on the 9th year of service on the Psychology salary scale. Experience and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Police, Ambulance, Emergency Department staff, GPs and Psychiatrists.
