Vanilla Blue Catering is excited to offer four full time positions in our large, modern Artarmon base kitchen: 3 x Apprentice Commercial Cookery Chefs 1 x Apprentice Pastry Chef Join a thriving production kitchen with 40+ chefs, cooks, catering attendants, where you'll learn from experienced professionals, including chefs who have worked in some of Sydney's finest hatted restaurants. And the best part? Monday to Friday roster, early mornings/day/afternoon shifts, and genuine work–life balance - minimal late nights and occasional weekend shifts only. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM VANILLA BLUE We're committed to training the next generation of chefs in a supportive, organised, and positive environment. You'll enjoy: Mainly Monday–Friday roster — occasional weekend work All leave, allowances and penalty rates included in accordance with the award Learning from a large team of highly skilled chefs Uniform chef jackets & aprons provided and laundered for you Complimentary staff meals & beverages daily Annual staff parties & outings with the whole company Long‑term career security, with opportunities to grow into qualified roles A friendly, supportive team who love helping apprentices succeed This is a rare opportunity to build your skills without the typical pressure‑cooker hours of restaurant kitchens. Apprentice chef main duties include but not limited to: Assist the chefs with the preparation and cooking, cold larder, hot dishes, and pastry products Train and learn standard procedures, techniques, and duties involved in food preparation Work under the supervision and guidance of the Head Chefs Operate commercial kitchen equipment, including mixers, pastry sheeters, ovens, and stoves Serve and present dishes as required Assist in other areas of food preparation, storage, and kitchen operations as needed The ideal apprentice will: Have a genuine passion for food Be punctual, reliable, and eager to learn Be ready to learn all aspects of the trade, step by step Work cleanly, professionally and follow safe food practices Be well‑presented and able to follow direction Thrive in a fast‑paced but supportive team environment No professional experience is required — just enthusiasm and commitment. Currently indentured apprentices are also welcome to apply. You must be an Australian Citizen, or a Permanent Resident to be eligible for an apprenticeship or traineeship.
