Senior Medical Officer – Clinical Lead Virtual Health Job Type: Temporary position | Part-time position Job Description Location: Virtual Health Unit, Patient Flow and Access Division, Division of Operations Mackay, Mackay Hospital and Health Service. The Mackay Base Hospital has an opportunity available for a Senior Medical Officer, Clinical Lead Virtual Health on a Temporary Part-Time basis (32 hrs p.f.). About the Mackay Region: Mackay Hospital and Health Service The MHHS provides extensive health services to a population of around 182,000 people across Sarina, Clermont, Bowen and the Whitsunday Islands over an area of approximately 90,000km2. It employs more than 3,700 staff across six hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and four community health centres. The Mackay Base Hospital is the referral hospital for the region and is one of the most modern healthcare facilities in Queensland. The MHHS is a contemporary organisation with state‑of‑the‑art facilities and a commitment to reducing health inequalities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. About the Unit: The MHHS Virtual Health Unit’s purpose is to develop, lead, manage and evaluate major health system improvement and facilitate staff and stakeholders to design and implement innovative virtual care and technology‑enabled models of health care. Virtual Health enables live and asynchronous clinical interactions, patient management supported by a range of communication, collaboration and cognitive computing technologies. Your Opportunity: This position is accountable for driving promotion and adoption of Virtual Care through intra‑ and cross‑HHS clinician‑led engagement and change‑management initiatives, informing the development and implementation of clinical protocols and new virtual‑enabled models of care. The Virtual Care Medical Lead will foster relationships with new and existing users of virtual care in the public and private sectors, and inform the design and implementation of systems and processes to support scalable and sustainable virtual care services across all patient care settings (inpatient, outpatient, emergency, community) and modalities (video call, request for advice, remote patient monitoring, and phone call).
