About the roleThe Dean/Academic Director (HE) will lead and manage academic operations of our Higher Education entity (Ikon).Reporting to the General Manager, Academic and Governance, this role is pivotal in developing and implementing the Teaching and Learning Plan, ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational experiences that align with Ikon's Strategic Plan and regulatory requirements.The role also involves overseeing development and implementation of the Product Development Plan to introduce new courses in line with Ikon’s Strategic PlanKey Responsibilities includeTeaching and LearningDevelop and implement Teaching and Learning Plan.Chair the Teaching and Learning Committee and report to the Academic Board.Implement scholarly activities framework and promote innovation in teaching.Fostering a culture of scholarship, supporting student success, and maintaining the quality of teaching and learning outcomesWorkforce Planning and ManagementDevelop workforce plans and oversee recruitment of academic staff.Support professional development and performance management.Product Development and ReviewOversee development of a Product Development Plan consistent with Ikon’s Strategic Plan for the development of new coursesReview and contribute to accreditation applications.Course and curriculum improvements and adherence to regulatory and professional accreditation standards.External Relationships and Benchmarking:Develop and implement a cross-institutional benchmarking activity plan, to inform continuous improvement.Develop and implement a cross-institutional benchmarking activity plan, to inform continuous improvement.Maintain positive engagement with the higher education regulatorGovernance and Quality AssuranceSupport academic governance and policy development.Ensure compliance with academic standards and regulatory frameworks.Manage academic operations budget and resources effectively.Team ManagementDemonstrate exemplary academic leadership and support the development of such leadership across senior academicsFacilitate cross-school and cross-campus meetings as required to ensure communication and feedback, and development and maintenance of high-quality work processeswithin the academic functionEmbrace and model the fundamental values of the EDU Group and ensure these characteristics are consistently applied across all key initiatives and decision-makingAbout youPhD in any discipline (management or adult education-related field of study preferred), or a Master’s with at least 5 years’ experience in academic leadership and managementDemonstrated established reputation at a national and/or international level as reflected by a substantial record of scholarshipExtensive experience in academic management, and leading change and innovation within a higher education environmentExperience in developing, leading, and managing high-performing academic teams, informed by an institution’s vision, mission and goalsExpert knowledge of contemporary pedagogical developments in face-to-face, blended and online delivery modes, informed by continuing scholarship and/or practiceProven record of high-quality outcomes associated with course development and accreditation, and the ongoing management of courses and curriculumDemonstrated understanding of requirements associated with regulatory frameworks, especially the current iteration of the Higher Education Standards Framework, the Education Services for Overseas Students Act and the National CodeHigh attention to detail and results-focusedStrong IT literacy, particularly in the Microsoft Office suitePaid birthday leaveTraining and development opportunitiesReward and recognitionBreakfast supplies on campusYear-round engagement eventsFun and diverse working environmentCBD location and easy access to public transportDiversity & InclusionWe celebrate our diversity and strive to reflect contemporary Australian society in order to better serve our students.
