This role will be based in Canberra. We require security clearance NV1 for this role. Ideally, you hold NV1 clearance or you must be an Australian citizen to be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Opportunity Join Macquarie Government as our next Principal Consultant , leading cyber security and cloud sales across Federal and State Government. This is a senior, high-impact role where your technical expertise and ability to influence will shape major customer outcomes and drive the growth of our government business. As our Principal Consultant, you’ll be the senior technical voice in government engagements guiding customers, shaping strategy, and elevating our sales capability. You’ll work closely with Sales, Technical Consultants, Product, and Engineering to deliver compelling solutions, steer major bids, and strengthen relationships with senior public‑sector stakeholders. You’ll also play a critical leadership role: mentoring Sales and Pre‑Sales teams, developing go‑to‑market strategies, building thought‑leadership content, and lifting our technical capability across the Government business. Ideally you will have had demonstrated experience in positioning SOC and SIEM as a service as well as a strong understanding of public and private cloud services. The primary focus is to contribute to the ongoing growth of the government business. This includes being able to establish trusted relationships based on your experience and technical expertise to guide and influence the selling process as well as present publicly. What you’ll be doing Lead the technical strategy for cyber security and cloud sales opportunities Be the sales advocate, partner with Sales on C‑suite engagements, strategic accounts, and major bids Develop solution designs, proposals, and tender responses as the technical deal lead Mentor Sales and Technical Consultants on product positioning and technical pitching Build industry presence through thought leadership and vendor/partner engagement Drive and contribute to GTM strategy, market intelligence, and customer workshops Required Experience and Skills 10+ years’ experience in IT&T and strong knowledge of government technology, trends, and solution design Expertise across cloud, SOC/SIEM, SSE technologies, and security architectures Strong public sector engagement experience working with federal and state government In depth working knowledge of Government, market, trends and technical design Extensive consultancy experience Has Government security clearance to NV-1 (PREFERENCE) or an Australian citizen who can readily achieve clearance. Exceptional communication skills, especially with senior public service stakeholders Ability to translate complex technical concepts into strategic solutions Proven experience leading bids, workshops, and consultative engagements Expertise across the following vendors/MSP’s: Netskope or similar SSE technology SOC knowledge AWS / Azure Splunk/Sentinel/Defender F5/Fortinet/Bluecoat/Netscaler A Degree in Engineering/Computer Science or related Desirable: Security (Gateway) knowledge/experience Desirable: Experience facilitating and coordination of consultative workshops with customers to achieve agreed business outcomes Why Us?
