They pay close attention to how applications interact with each other to form a service and aim to improve the way application support the business.The Application Architect will, under broad direction from the Commonwealth, be responsible for a range of activities contributing to the design, build, test and operation of ICT systems to support the delivery of modern mobility solutions for senior government officials. Long contracts (12 months+) available.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical guidance on solution design to ensure infrastructure integrates (draft test cases) well with application workflow for intuitive and engaging user experience. Draft business requirements into technical specifications by consulting with stakeholders in defining business services for application accesses using Virtual Desktop Interface (VDI). Proactively monitor, test & support end-user applications, perform performance tuning using various monitoring tools to ensure optimal configuration/performance. Lead the development of solution architectures, validate implementations directly with business users, infrastructure teams and/or functional areas. Lead identification of risks that arise from potential technical solution architectures. Suggest alternate solutions or countermeasures to mitigate risks. Evaluate requests for changes and/or deviations from specifications and recommend actions. Ensure that relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including ICT security) are applied correctly to meet IOC and FOC requirements. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE NEEDED ARCH5 Leads the development of solution architectures in specific business, infrastructure or functional areas. Leads the preparation of technical plans and ensures appropriate technical resources are made available. Ensures appropriate tools and methods are available, understood and employed in architecture development. Provides technical guidance and governance on solution development and integration. Evaluates requests for changes and deviations from specifications and recommends actions. Ensures relevant technical strategies, policies, standards and practices (including security and cost management) are applied correctly. DESN5 Designs large or complex systems and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and trade-offs. Ensures the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements. Reviews systems designs and ensures appropriate methods, tools and techniques are applied effectively. Makes recommendations and assesses and manages associated risks. Adopts and adapts system design methods, tools and techniques. Contributes to development of system design policies, standards and selection of architecture components. The extent to which the candidate demonstrates in their submission the ability to perform the Job Duties and Responsibilities set out in the RFQ.
