Child and Youth Therapeutic and Wellbeing Practitioner Save The Children Volunteer Positions – Armadale WA 54 reasons is proud to play a key role in the new Child and Young Person Therapeutic Service, supporting children and young people impacted by family violence. In a newly created role, we will provide trauma‑informed counselling and therapeutic support, working alongside children, young people, and their families to promote safety, healing, and recovery. A place to make a difference In this part‑time (up to 0.8 FTE/30.4 hrs, negotiable) maximum‑term role available until November 2027, you’ll work as part of our Children and Young People Therapeutic Service team in Gosnells, Armadale, Serpentine Jarrahdale in Western Australia to help us create lasting change for children everywhere. You will make a difference by: Supporting children and young people affected by family and domestic violence, including those with diverse and intersecting needs Creating age‑appropriate therapeutic support to enhance their safety, recovery and healing Delivering a mix of one‑to‑one and family‑based case management and therapeutic healing/counselling methods Supporting safety, recovery and healing for children and young people who are victim survivors of family violence Working in partnership with a multidisciplinary team to support the recovery, healing and restoration journey of young people and adults accessing the service A place to feel valued Your expertise in reflective, ethical practice will be invaluable. You’re a practitioner with proficiency in therapeutic interventions for children and young people impacted by trauma and family violence and who thrives working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, culturally safe support. This role requires Understanding of the impacts of Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) on children's development, behaviour, and capacity for self‑regulation Understanding of how FDV affects attachment, family functioning, and caregiving relationships Knowledge of developmental stages in children and how these influence needs, behaviour, and responses to stress Knowledge of trauma in children and young people within the context of FDV, including trauma responses and long‑term effects Knowledge of protective behaviours and strategies that support the safety and wellbeing of children and young people A place to belong At 54 reasons, we invest in the development and wellbeing of our people.
