What you will do: Undertake the assessment, preparation, training, support, and reviews of various carers including foster carers, kinship carers, and special guardians, ensuring their capacity to provide high-quality care. Collaborate with carers in partnership, utilizing trauma-informed practice skills to support their understanding of their roles, the needs of children, and the importance of securing permanent arrangements. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of carers’ households, ensuring children and young people’s safety through rigorous reviews and adherence to statutory checks. Provide supervision and support to carers, aiding in the development of their practice skills and ensuring compliance with statutory and departmental requirements. Prepare and provide detailed assessments, written reports, and statements for care planning meetings, panels, courts, and reviews of Children Looked After. Contribute to care planning and permanence arrangements by consulting with childcare teams, identifying placement needs, and developing support plans for long-term placements. Maintain organized and accurate records for carers, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Participate in a duty system, including out-of-hours, to guarantee that carers receive consistent support. Foster professional relationships with clients, carers, colleagues, and external agencies to encourage equality, diversity, and mutual respect in all interactions. Take charge of personal performance and development, establishing goals and strategies for continued growth and success. Qualifications: Diploma in Social Work or equivalent qualification Registered with Social Work England (SWE) Technical Knowledge and Experience: Strong knowledge of children-related legislation, especially the Children Act 1989, and understanding of family and friends’ care, fostering, and Special Guardianship Regulations. Experience in managing complex issues in the assessment and support of carers. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
