Who we are Insamo is an early stage, securely funded biotech / pharmaceutical company. We were founded in 2023 and have research sites in central Sydney and Berkeley, California. Using our proprietary drug screening and development platform, we are pioneering the creation of a new class of membrane‑permeable & orally available macrocyclic peptides. The roles We are seeking to fill two roles (one Research Associate and one Scientist) to join our growing pharmaceutical research and development team in Sydney. The focus of these roles will be the development and implementation of display screening techniques to macrocyclic peptide drug discovery. Research associate We are looking for an experienced research associate to join a small, highly focused team of scientists. The work will involve elements of chemistry along with nucleic acid and/or protein biochemistry. It is an industrial research role with clear goals, but enough flexibility to reward creative thinking. Requirements for the role are: BSc (Hons) in chemical or life sciences with laboratory experience in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, structural biology or a related field. Basic knowledge of molecular biological techniques (PCR, DNA sequencing, nucleic acid and/or protein (bio)chemistry techniques, etc). Previous experience with FPLC and/or other chromatographic techniques. Excellent organisational skills. A critical thinker with strong attention to detail. Display Screening Scientist We are looking for Scientist with experience in mRNA display techniques. We expect that the most suitable candidates for this position will be recent PhD graduates with up to 5 years experience, however other candidates with the necessary expertise will be considered. Requirements for the role are: A PhD in molecular biology, chemistry, pharmacology or a related discipline. Experience with mRNA display. Experience with Next Generation Sequencing. Expertise in protein‑protein biophysical interaction analysis techniques, (SPR, BLI, HTRF, alpha screen, etc.). Expertise in peptide medicinal chemistry, including experience with SPPS and HPLC. Knowledge of bacterial and mammalian culture techniques including recombinant protein expression and purification. The demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively. This role will require substantial independence and a high degree of intellectual leadership. Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills are also critical as the role will integrate into our existing pharmaceutical R&D team and projects. Both roles will be based in inner Sydney, close to public transport. What we offer A competitive salary with secure funding for the term of employment.
