Position Overview The Apprentice Chef will undertake a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery while working full time within one of TMG’s venues. The role involves learning foundational kitchen skills, supporting the chef team, and developing the knowledge and discipline required to succeed in a fast‑paced hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities Assist with food preparation, including basic knife work, portioning, and simple cooking tasks. Follow recipes, portion standards, and plating instructions. Maintain a clean and hygienic workstation and assist with general kitchen cleaning. Adhere to all food safety, allergen, and temperature control procedures. Support with stock rotation, storage, and unpacking deliveries. Assist chefs during service with cooking, plating, and garnishing. Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with the kitchen team. Actively participate in training, ask questions, and complete all apprenticeship requirements. Ideal Candidate A genuine love of food and a strong desire to learn about cooking and the hospitality industry. A positive, can‑do attitude and willingness to support teammates. The ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining professionalism. Reliability, enthusiasm, and a commitment to completing the apprenticeship. A valid driver’s licence completion of a pre‑apprenticeship in commercial cookery is advantageous but not mandatory.
