Store Manager (Flagship – New Sydney Fish Market) Retail Store Manager – Flagship Site (New Sydney Fish Market) We’re hiring a Retail Store Manager to lead the launch and daily operations of our flagship flower store at the brand new Sydney Fish Market. As flower farmers, we take pride in growing and sharing seasonal, fresh-picked blooms direct from the farm to our customers. You\'ll find us every weekend at our much-loved flower stalls in Bondi, Manly, Moore Park, and Carriageworks Farmers Market — and soon at our first permanent retail store at the New Sydney Fish Market. Whether we’re wrapping a bunch at the market or serving a regular in-store, our focus is always on quality, connection, and creating beauty in the everyday. About the Role This is a unique opportunity for a proven retail leader to take the reins of a brand-new flagship store. You’ll play a critical role in the pre-launch phase — helping to shape store processes, lead a small team, and ensure we\'re ready for a successful grand opening. Once open, you’ll be responsible for day-to-day operations, team performance, customer experience, and retail sales. Important : This is not a floristry position . We\'re looking for an experienced retail manager , not a florist, to lead the store. You do not need floral knowledge or design skills — your strengths should be in team leadership, customer service, stock control, and retail operations. If you’ve managed a specialty store (fashion, homewares, beauty, books, lifestyle etc.), and you love people, product and presentation — this role could be a perfect fit. Hours of Work Our Fish Market store is open 7 days. While we have a roster in mind, we’re flexible for the right candidate to help shape their schedule. Key things to note: Peak trading days are typically Wednesday to Sunday You’ll need to be available for every second weekend (minimum) Rosters will include two consecutive days off Typical shifts: 8–9 hours , between: 10am–6pm (Mon–Wed) 10am–8pm (Thurs–Sun) Key Responsibilities Pre-Launch : Contribute to store setup, systems, team onboarding and stock preparation ahead of the grand opening Retail Operations : Oversee day-to-day store operations including merchandising, opening/closing, and maintaining store presentation Team Leadership : Manage, roster, train and support a small team to deliver exceptional service Inventory & Admin : Monitor stock levels, liaise with suppliers, coordinate ordering and handle basic reporting, budgets and scheduling Customer Experience : Lead by example in providing welcoming, knowledgeable and efficient service Teamwork : Pitch in to support the wider Mayfarm team, including flower market logistics on weekends when needed What You Need Minimum 3 years’ experience in a retail management or assistant manager role Experience supervising staff, managing rosters and overseeing retail floor operations Strong organisation and administrative ability Confidence in stock control and POS/inventory systems Availability across key trading days (Wed–Sun), including weekends Who You Are Not a florist – and that\'s totally fine You\'re a retail professional first and foremost Hands-on and approachable with a strong customer service ethic Calm under pressure, reliable, and a great communicator Naturally organised and comfortable with structure and process Flexible and proactive — you\’re happy to get involved wherever needed Sound like you?
