About You We are seeking a distinguished and impact‑minded academic leader to join our team as a Professor in Generative AI . In this senior role you will be a key driver of research excellence, innovative teaching and strategic leadership within the School of Computing Technologies. Lead high‑impact research projects, foster interdisciplinary collaborations and build strong national and global partnerships across academia, government and industry. Contribute to teaching and curriculum development within the Data Science and AI discipline, support the strategic direction of the School, and mentor staff to drive academic excellence. Have expertise that complements our existing strengths in Responsible AI, Intelligent Decision Making, Multi‑modal Machine Learning, including Neuro‑symbolic AI, Knowledge Graphs, Contextual AI, Conversational AI and Trustworthy & Safe AI. Explore human‑AI teaming and ethical AI adoption in collaboration with colleagues across STEM, Design and Social Context, and Business and Law. Responsibilities Lead high‑impact research projects and foster interdisciplinary collaborations. Support teaching and curriculum development within the Data Science and AI discipline. Help shape the strategic direction of the School and mentor staff to drive academic excellence. Demonstrated ability to manage award programs and lead program reviews. Distinction at the national level and an internationally recognised research track record, evidenced through publications at top venues such as NeurIPS, ACL, AAAI, and ICML. Proven ability to sustain and grow research groups and centres in core areas relevant to Generative AI technology through attraction of external funding. Extensive experience in attracting and supervising H‑D‑R candidates to maximise research performance. Lead improvement of academic standards, implementing best‑practice teaching strategies and dissemination of innovative practices. Strategic leadership in a large organisational unit or university‑wide initiative and effective membership of a management team. Experience in financial, governance and quality management systems within a university. High level of interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills, including consulting with senior executives, external bodies, producing executive reports and negotiating outcomes within a collaborative environment. Qualifications PhD in a relevant field. Appointment subject to passing a Working with Children Check.
