The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced Applications Scientist with deep expertise in genomics and next generation sequencing to join our Melbourne‑based team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of genomic technologies, supporting researchers who are generating unique data and advancing scientific discovery. Your hands‑on NGS experience is what matters most. Key Responsibilities Provide expert technical and applications support to existing customers using genomics platforms, particularly next generation sequencing systems, library preparation and associated platforms. Deliver comprehensive training to customers on NGS workflows, protocols, and best practices. Collaborate closely with our sales team to provide technical expertise during customer demonstrations, presentations, and sales cycles. Troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop innovative solutions for customer applications. Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in genomics and NGS. Build strong relationships with key opinion leaders and researchers across Australia and New Zealand. Travel to customer sites throughout the region as required. Essential Qualifications & Experience PhD or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Genetics, Bioinformatics, or related life science discipline. Minimum 2‑3 years hands‑on experience with next generation sequencing technologies and workflows in a research or clinical laboratory setting. Strong understanding of NGS library preparation, sequencing platforms, and data analysis. Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Enthusiasm for working with customers and helping solve technical challenges. Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly within Australia and occasionally internationally. Experience with NGS sequencing platforms. Knowledge of single cell sequencing applications. Familiarity with proteomics or other multi‑omics approaches. Previous experience in customer‑facing roles, technical support, or teaching/training. Background in molecular pathology or clinical genomics applications. Experience presenting at conferences or seminars.
