We’re focused on supporting Victorians to be as healthy as they can; whether through alerting them to seasonal risks like thunderstorm asthma, notifying them of contacts with communicable diseases, safeguarding their drinking water, developing the best health, wellbeing and care facilities in the world, being at the forefront of mental health and wellbeing treatment or accelerating medical research. It’s all part of the way we partner with the community to help every individual lead a healthy life. The Senior Project Officer, Lived Experience works as a member of the Mental Health Improvement Program within the Improvement Branch and has responsibility for delivering large‑scale mental health reform initiatives for the State. The initiatives respond initially to the priorities identified by the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System and utilise the model for improvement and other evidence‑based change methodologies to improve the quality of treatment, experiences and support for Victorian’s delivering and receiving mental health and wellbeing care. The Senior Project Officer, Lived Experience brings their lived experience perspective to the program. This position ensures the views of consumers/carers are central to the design and delivery of the Mental Health Improvement Program’s large‑scale reform initiatives. Utilising skills in project management and stakeholder engagement, the role contributes to working closely with mental health and wellbeing services and other relevant partners to implement improvement initiatives. This position reports to the Manager of the Team 2. The Senior Project Officer, Lived Experience will work across the Mental Health Improvement Program to ensure the implementation and delivery of Safer Care Victoria’s functions and vision. The successful candidate will be results‑oriented, organised and motivated, with a passion for supporting others to achieve measurable and transformative improvements for consumers and their carers/supporters and workforce involved in delivering care. About you: Personal lived experience as a consumer or family member, carer or supporter is required. Tertiary qualification in a relevant health, mental health, public health/policy and/or experience working in the health sector, particularly Mental Health, would be highly regarded. Experience working with this lived experience expertise in roles which represent the consumer/carer perspective to inform improvement is required. Project management expertise and stakeholder engagement within quality improvement initiatives is desirable. Knowledge and application of model for improvement (or similar improvement methodologies) is desirable.
