Contract: 2 Year’s A high-profile Systems Integration Director opportunity has become available to lead the end-to-end integration and commissioning of ETCS Level 2 across a major rail corridor. This role will oversee signalling, digital radio and interoperability streams, ensuring seamless technical and operational integration across infrastructure, rolling stock, and technology delivery partners. You will report at executive level and lead a specialised team of systems engineers, assurance specialists and project delivery professionals, while driving coordination across multiple delivery contracts and operational stakeholders. What You’ll Be Doing Lead the full systems integration lifecycle from strategy and design through to commissioning and operational handover. Define and drive integration plans, technical interfaces, and milestone alignment across signalling, communications and infrastructure streams. Establish governance and assurance frameworks to monitor delivery progress, commercial performance, and risk. Build and lead a high-performing technical integration team, fostering collaboration, safety and delivery ownership. Oversee commercial performance of milestone-based contracts and ensure supplier alignment to program outcomes. Act as the primary interface for integration delivery with operators, delivery partners, engineering teams and regulatory bodies. Provide systems engineering direction across assurance, RAMS, configuration management and safety‑critical integration. Work closely with operational teams to ensure readiness for live deployment, including validation of scenarios and transition plans. Embed continuous improvement practices, evolving integration processes in line with delivery insights and lessons learned. What We’re Looking For 15+ years’ experience in the Australian rail industry with direct exposure to major signalling or rail technology integration programmes (ETCS desirable). Demonstrated leadership in a Project Director / Technical Director capacity on large, complex, multi‑stakeholder rail infrastructure or technology programmes. Strong systems engineering background across requirements, assurance and commissioning of safety‑critical systems. Proven capability in leading multi‑disciplinary technical teams in high‑governance delivery environments. Skilled in stakeholder influence and executive‑level engagement across operators, regulators, delivery partners and technical forums. Experience overseeing commercial delivery frameworks, milestone regimes and supplier performance. Tertiary qualifications in engineering or project management, with professional accreditation (e.g. CPEng, CPPM) advantageous. This Role Will Suit Someone Who Operates confidently at executive programme level but remains connected to technical delivery detail.
