Share the Joy of Your Dog Make a Real Difference Bring along your good-natured pet and spend time chatting with people living with dementia who may be frail and elderly at our residential aged care home in Daw Park. You’ll see what a difference your furry friend can make. The simple presence of a dog can spark memories, ease anxiety, and bring moments of comfort and connection to residents who need it most. Whether its a friendly lick, a soft coat to pat, or just a quiet companion by their side, your dog's visit can brighten someone's whole day. If you’re a dog lover looking for a meaningful way to give back, this is a beautiful opportunity to volunteer together and touch lives one wag at a time. As you're bringing your pet into an care environment with frail and elderly residents, we ask that your pet is: Calm, patient and gentle in nature Up-to-date with vaccinations and treatment of worms and fleas Nails should be short and blunt. Freshly cut nails can be sharp if not filed down. Dogs should be kept on a lead at all times. Your impact Volunteering as a social visitor can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated. HammondCare is a provider of The Aged Care Volunteer Visitor Scheme funded by the Australian Government and is established to promote links between elderly people and volunteers in their local community.
