About The Role We are seeking an experienced and driven Quality Assurance (QA) Manager to lead our Global QA team from our Canberra location. In this role, you’ll ensure that Ativion’s digital learning products — from platforms to integrations — meet the highest standards of functionality, accessibility, and performance. You will drive QA strategy, build scalable QA processes, oversee automation and manage manual testing, and manage the QA team (including the QA lead). Align QA processes with Agile development cycles and CI/CD pipelines. Quality Planning & Execution Develop, maintain, and manage test plans, test cases, and test automation suites for all major releases. Oversee functional, regression, performance, security, and accessibility testing for web and mobile platforms. Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to define clear acceptance criteria and integrate testing early in the SDLC. Manage and optimize QA environments, tools, and data to ensure smooth and repeatable testing workflows. Drive root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives across QA and Engineering teams. Track, document, and communicate testing outcomes, quality metrics, and release readiness to stakeholders. Automation & Reporting Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cucumber) integrated into the CI/CD pipeline. Develop and present graphical dashboards and reports (e.g., via Azure DevOps) to visualize test progress, defect trends, automation coverage, and product quality indicators. Provide regular QA progress updates for all releases under testing, including milestone tracking and risk assessments. Compliance & Accessibility Ensure that all platforms comply with WCAG, GDPR, FERPA, and other relevant educational and privacy standards. Establish and maintain test coverage for accessibility and data protection compliance. Cross‑functional Collaboration Collaborate with Product Management to align QA coverage with business priorities. Partner with Engineering leadership to ensure effective defect triage and release gating. Work with Customer Success and Support teams to analyze post‑release issues and incorporate feedback into QA processes. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of experience in software QA, including 2+ years in a leadership role. Experience testing SaaS or cloud‑based applications, ideally within an EdTech or eLearning context. Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, automated testing tools, and agile practices. Familiarity with testing for accessibility, scalability, and data integrity in education platforms. Experience with QA tools such as Jira, TestRail, Selenium, Cucumber, Cypress, Playwright, Postman, and Jenkins/GitHub Actions. Demonstrated ability to produce data‑driven quality reports and visualize test metrics for executive stakeholders. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Skills Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or integrations with education standards (e.g., LTI, SCORM). Knowledge of student data privacy standards and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, FERPA). ISTQB or similar QA certification. Experience with performance and load testing for high‑traffic platforms. Why Join Ativion? Lead quality efforts for impactful, learner‑focused technology. Work with a passionate team shaping the future of education. Competitive compensation and benefits.
