The Opportunity CSIRO’s Data61 is proud to announce the David Irvine Postgraduate Scholarship, established to honour the legacy of the late Dr. David Irvine AO. The scholarship offers a unique opportunity for talented students to pursue a postgraduate degree in cyber security at one of the CSCRC Participant Universities. Scholars will conduct cutting‑edge, interdisciplinary research addressing real‑world cyber‑security challenges that are critical to Australia’s national interest. During the scholarship students will benefit from world‑class research resources, tailored coaching and development programmes, and a supportive environment designed to help them build a dynamic and impactful research career. Eligibility First Class Honours or equivalent undergraduate degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science or Artificial Intelligence. Admitted to the PhD or MPhil program at one of the CSCRC Partner Universities and enrolled full‑time. No longer than 12 months into the PhD or 6 months into the MPhil. International students must be residing in Australia with an appropriate visa and meet visa criteria as outlined by the Defence Trade Controls (Foreign Country) Instrument 2024. Have at least one confirmed supervisor from the university. Receive a tuition fee waiver from the university. Scholarship Benefits Full scholarship valued at up to $46,000 per year, depending on the year of study (PhD and MPhil). PhD students receive $7,000 per annum training allowance; MPhil students receive $5,000 per annum training allowance. Tuition fees are not covered under this scholarship. Relocation costs are not payable. Tuition fee waiver must be provided by the hosting university. Research Project Themes Resilient Systems Security and Configuration Management of IoT Systems Development of Next‑Generation Authentication Technologies Predict, Detect, Respond to and Investigate Cyber Threats Platform and Architecture for Cyber Security as a Service Security Automation and Orchestration Privacy Preserving Data Sharing in a Connected World Law and Privacy Application Process Submit a Resume/CV and Cover Letter as a single PDF document in the ‘Resume/CV’ field. Upload your current or most recent academic record and official transcripts to demonstrate First Class Honours (or equivalent). Complete the Microsoft Form “David Irvine Scholarship” which includes a project concept proposal. Choose a theme from the list of research project themes.
