(Organisation site )Conceptualisation; Office of Groundwater Impact Assessment; Water Resource Management; Brisbane CityThis is an opportunity for you to step in and lead and empower a team of scientists as well as manage initiatives and programs for hydrogeological conceptualisation to support the assessment and management of subsurface impacts from coal seamgas (CSG) and mining development in Queensland.You will be operating from within the Office of Groundwater Impact Assessment you will design innovative scientific techniques and methods, and guide their implementation, to address complex scientific problems.About the Office of Groundwater Impact Assessment (OGIA):OGIA is an independent office housed within the Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRMDW) for undertaking cumulative assessment and management of groundwater impacts from CSG and mining development in Queensland since 2010. Currently a legislative process is also underway to expand OGIA's functions in assessment and management of CSG induced subsidence.OGIA is unique in that it undertakes the majority of work in-house, including scientific investigations and conceptualisation as well as groundwater, geological and geomechanical modelling supported by data science and remote sensing techniques.The role:As a highly motivated person you will take on a key position in OGIA where, as a program leader, you will lead strategically, drive accountability and pursue continuous growth.You will have a keen ability to identify emerging and strategic issues, directly engage with the industry and other stakeholders, build a network and develop solutions inrelation to overall assessment and management of subsurface impacts of water extraction by the resources industry.As a Director, you will support the Executive Director of OGIA in proactively identifying, developing and implementing strategies and programs for successful delivery of its statutory functions within stipulated timeframes, as well as in the evolving space of expansion of its duties.About the Department:DRMDW drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing and developing our regions.
