This is your opportunity to play a key role in ensuring communities receive critical information when faced with bushfires, storms, cyclones and other hazards. We are currently seeking six (6) passionate communicators who want to be part of a 24/7 team providing timely and accurate information during emergencies. These roles are fixed-term, full-time for a period of up to 12 months with the possibility of extensions and/or permanency. Part-time or casual arrangements may be considered for suitable candidates, subject to business requirements. This selection process may be used to fill other similar at-level vacancies that arise within twenty-four (24) months. About the Role As a Coordinator Public Information, you’ll join the multi-award-winning Media and Corporate Communications team and be part of a 24/7 roster helping keep Western Australians safe and informed. Your main responsibility will be to issue alerts and warnings, making sure they are accurate, easy to understand and delivered quickly. You’ll be based in our State Operations Centre, working closely with operational personnel and other stakeholders to ensure the right information reaches the community at the right time. When you’re not issuing warnings, you’ll contribute to projects and initiatives that strengthen DFES’ public information capability. This is a unique and rewarding role where you’ll be at the heart of the emergency response while also helping to drive longer-term improvements in how we communicate with the community. Employment Conditions and Additional Information DFES is an emergency services organisation and all employees may be required to work or travel outside of normal business hours to assist with emergencies. Employees in this position will be rostered to ensure DFES can issue emergency information to the community, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The roster includes overnight and early-morning shifts, weekends and public holidays with shift and weekend allowances. Sounds like you and want to know more?
