About the role As Senior Manager – Security & Trade Controls, you’ll design and lead SQC’s global security and export compliance framework. This critical role ensures we meet stringent security obligations across Australia, the US, and Europe while enabling our quantum technology to scale responsibly. You’ll serve as the company’s subject‑matter expert, safeguarding the development, handling, and export of sensitive technologies in full compliance with defence and trade regulations. You’ll manage Australia’s DISP membership, establish secure facilities internationally, and implement robust security and compliance programs across multiple jurisdictions. Partnering with engineering, operations, and commercial teams, you’ll embed a culture of security and compliance that supports growth and unlocks global opportunities in the defence sector. This includes ensuring adherence to Australian DTCA, U.S. ITAR/EAR, and other export control laws, as well as managing permits, TAAs, and access control policies under SQC’s Technology Control Plans. Role responsibilities Ensure compliance with Australian, U.S., UK/EU export control regulations (DTCA, ITAR, EAR, ECJU). Manage Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership and liaise with Defence Security and Vetting Service (DSVS). Oversee personnel clearances, facility accreditation, and ICT security compliance. Establish secure facilities internationally and implement robust security frameworks. Chair the Export Controls Committee and deliver company‑wide training. Monitor evolving legislation and advise leadership on compliance impacts. Develop and enforce Technology Control Plans and access control procedures. Conduct audits, manage permits and TAAs, and maintain compliance records. Your experience 5+ years in defence security and/or export controls within the defence industry. Experience managing DISP membership and elevating assurance levels. Hands‑on experience with security/trade compliance frameworks in the US or Europe. Strong ability to engage with government agencies and internal technical teams. Excellent communication skills to translate complex regulations into practical guidance. Engineering or project management background is a plus.
