Profusion Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia Cyber Security Engineer – M365 / AI Our client is a leading, enterprise financial services company with a strong focus on innovation, reliability, and operational excellence across its technology and security landscape. Overview This role is based in Newcastle and requires three days in the office, so you must be based in Newcastle or willing to relocate. Responsibilities Operate and enhance Microsoft 365 security controls, including anti‑phishing, Safe Links, Safe Attachments, and Microsoft Defender (Office 365 / Endpoint / Identity / Cloud Apps). Maintain and optimise Conditional Access policy baselines and identity hygiene across the enterprise. Build and manage Microsoft Purview DLP policies across M365 workloads, supporting proactive monitoring and incident response. Assist the Data Governance team by configuring and maintaining sensitivity labels and auto‑labelling policies. Secure Microsoft 365 Copilot deployments by validating data protection guardrails and supporting readiness activities. Maximise the value of the organisation’s Microsoft 365 E5 security investment through smart adoption, tool rationalisation, and clear reporting metrics. Support Power Platform security governance through DLP policy configuration and remediation of findings. Qualifications 3+ years’ experience managing and optimising Microsoft 365 security controls in an enterprise environment. Strong experience with Microsoft Defender suite (Office 365, Endpoint, Identity, Cloud Apps). Proven expertise in Microsoft Purview DLP, Information Protection, and sensitivity labelling. Understanding of identity and access management principles, Conditional Access, and governance. Experience supporting secure M365 Copilot deployments and Power Platform DLP policies. Hands‑on familiarity with Microsoft E5 licensing capabilities, adoption, and reporting.
